So, we’re lamenting the death of Ford’s cars, but I could actually argue that cars, as we knew them, have been dying for quite a while, by getting taller and taller.
Let’s look at the top 5 best selling compact sedans in the US, year to date, shall we? These are Edmunds numbers, so they only go back to 1990. I’ll use the first year of each generation.

Actually, I’m not sure this has anything to do with it. It’s more about Ford US saying that their international cars no longer interest the US market and there’s no financial incentive to rectify the situation. End of story.
The only caveat for Ford (and every other car maker) is there is strength in diversity. And they won’t have it. Ford Oz have the same problem...

I was hoping to pick up a fiesta st or focus st for cheap after my truck was paid off in a couple years. Now the values will be inflated because you can’t get a new one of either. What is wrong with just 8.7% profit in a giant company, a huge amount of money. First GM and Ford walked away from the minivan market now they’re just gonna concede basically all cars, this is not smart business in the long run.

Major stockholders don’t care about the long run. They just want a short-term gain and they’re out. Now you see the injustice inherent in the system.

Yup, Mulally brought the company profits and awesome performance models/respect. But was still pushed out. I hate current corporate America

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t produce US-spec cars built in Germany, like the RS, even if they’re expensive. They don’t even need a lot of them or to really stock them, just have them available. Make them rare and interesting.

CUVs are just returning to the height/shape of cars from the 40s-50s. It’s like all the technological advances have been rapidly unwinding since the peak in the 90s to early 00s.
Even my car is like a freaking minivan. It’s taller than my first car, which was a tall puddle-jumping full size...

I will always dislike him for cutting their relationship with Mazda and letting Toyota tear out their heart & soul.

Mustang is why. Ford Oz are taking this path but that’s because the RHD Mustang is expensive..
